I watched Winter Sleepers, directed by Tom Tykwer, the other day and was not moved. I enjoyed and own copies of two of his other films, Run Lola Run and The Princess and the Warrior. This one was pretty, certainly, with it’s alpine location, but I found the story fairly unmotivating. I didn’t really care much about the characters and the story itself was not interesting enough to make up for the lack of character development and the nudity in the film came over as completely gratuitous to me, which is a major downer in my book. It was an earlier work for him, but was released just before Run Lola Run, so I expected it to be better. It’s certainly possible that I just missed the boat on this film. As usual, I’ll read a few review on the net now that I’ve watched it and see if that enlightens me a bit.
